Andrew Hammond officially signs in the KHL
After parts of eight seasons in North America between the AHL and NHL, Andrew Hammond is heading to the KHL after signing a one-year contract with Traktor Chelyabinsk.

He added, "As I said before, this goalkeeper has a lot of experience playing in North America. Hammond is a fairly large goalkeeper, his main strengths are positioning and mobility in goal. In the next couple of days, the issue of Andrew's visa should be resolved and after that he will immediately fly to Chelyabinsk."
Hammond, 34, made his NHL debut with Ottawa back during the 2013-14 season, before becoming a mainstay on their roster the following season. In his first full season with the Senators, Hammond put up a remarkable 20-1-2 record through 24 games.
The Surrey (British Columbia) native began the 2021-22 season in the American Hockey League with the Iowa Wild. Due to injury issues with their goaltenders, the Montreal Canadiens traded for Hammond and he would go on to appear in four games for them, posting a 3-0-0 record with a 2.40 GAA and a .920 save percentage.
To allow him to continue playing in the NHL and with the impending return of Jake Allen, Canadiens General Manager Kent Hughes dealt Hammond to New Jersey on trade deadline day, where he would play in seven games to finish the season.
During this off-season, Hammond signed a professional tryout contract with the Florida Panthers, but instead, he will now head to Russia with a better opportunity to play consistent hockey.
