J.T. Miller and the Canucks agree to big new contract
J.T. Miller and the Vancouver Canucks have agreed to a contract extension that is meant to keep the 29-year-old in the city for a long time. The forward has signed on with the Canucks for another seven years, and he'll make some very good money along the way.
In all, Miller will get $56 million over the seven years, and will carry a cap hit of $8 million per season. The first four years gets a full no trade cause, while the final three have a modified list that allows him to block certain moves. Miller still has a year left on his current contract, and will carry a cap hit of $5.25 million
While trade rumours swirled last season, Canucks' management made it clear they were looking for Miller to stay. Miller was always a threat offensively, but couldn't seem to put a full season together from 2017 to 2021. This past season, however, Miller put in 80 of 82 games, and broke previous personal bests in all major offensive categories with 32 goals, 67 assists, and 99 points. Miller will be 36 when this contract ends.
