It feels like trade rumours involving Arizona Coyotes defenceman Jakob Chychrun have been going on forever. It seemed like a sure thing that he would have been dealt leading to the deadline or even on deadline day in March, but nothing materialized.

Arizona's high asking price for Chychrun has been the same for months now, which is likely why the Boca Raton native remains a Coyote.

The 24-year-old has been linked to several teams, including the Los Angeles Kings dating way back to mid-way through the 2021-22 season and the Ottawa Senators in recent weeks.

Allan Mitchell of The Athletic says that he doesn't rule out the idea that the Edmonton Oilers could be in play as a destination for Jakob Chychrun.

If that were to be the case and Arizona doesn't drop from their massive asking price, it's likely a deal would include 24-year-old Jesse Puljujarvi, who has been rumoured to be traded from Edmonton before the start of the 2022-23 season. Edmonton's 2023 first round pick would also have to be involved, as well as a prospect. Looking at the Oilers' prospect capital and the demand for a high-end prospect, could one of Matvey Petrov or Xavier Bourgault be included?

Chychrun had a sub-par season, but that was mainly due to injuries that caused him to miss nearly the entire year. He has three-years remaining on his contract with an AAV of $4.6 million and in the final two seasons of the deal, Chychrun has a modified no-trade clause.
