After parts of eight seasons in North America between the NHL and AHL, Remi Elie, a former second round pick of the Dallas Stars, is heading to Europe.

The 40th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Swedish Hockey League club, Farjestad BK.

Note - the following is translated from Swedish:

"We have worked hard to fill up our center side and it is of course nice that Elie is now coming to us," said Farjestad BK General Manager Rickard Wallin.

Wallin added, "Elie possesses many of the qualities that we lost when Gustav and Jacob left us. He is a good combination of power and skill and has experience in both the NHL, and has been a top player in the AHL in recent years. We hope that he can complement the forward crew we have in a good way."

Elie, 27, appeared in 107 games in the National Hockey League with the Dallas Stars, Buffalo Sabres and Tampa Bay Lightning. In those 107 games, the Cornwall (Ontario) native had 22 points (seven goals, fifteen assists), 28 penalty minutes and was a plus-five.
