Sebastian Aho (NYI) has seen his name spread across media outlets the past couple days and not for positive reasons. The Swedish defender was arrested for a DUI in his home country, and fans generally jumped up in support. Aho blew a .03 on a Breathalyzer, which .01 above the legal limit when operating a car in Sweden.

Most sensible people understand that amount of alcohol in someone's system (.03) is hardly enough to impair their motor skills and render them a threat to others, but I suppose when curbing drunk driving and the seriousness of it, better safe than sorry. Still, the player was arrested, and a big to-do was made as a result. The Islanders released the following statement:

Sebastian's agent, NHL legend Claude Lemieux, also released a statement, explaining his client's position:

He had no idea he would still be over the limit by the next morning and felt 100 percent, but unfortunately he made a mistake and he is very sorry!

Aho has already been released, and he is expected to arrive at Islanders' training camp with no issue. The Swede has two years left on his current contract at $825,000, so something tells me he won't have much of an issue paying any fines he may incur. The ordeal is unfortunate for Aho, but thankfully he wasn't seriously impaired at the time of arrest.
