The Detroit Red Wings have announced that they have agreed to terms with restricted free agent Filip Zadina on a three-year, $5.475 million deal that will carry an average annual value of $1.825 million.

Zadina, 22, was able to record career highs last season with 10 goals and 24 points in 74 outings. That said, those numbers were rather disappointing given the fact he scored six goals and 19 points in just 49 games the season prior.

While he still has plenty of potential, Zadina has yet to live up to the expectations placed on him after he was selected with the sixth overall pick at the 2018 draft. The fortunate thing for him is that he went to a Red Wings team that has been in a rebuild stage for the last number of years, meaning they have been able to be patient with him. That said, they are expected to take a big step forward this season, meaning the pressure is on for Zadina to prove he belongs at the NHL level.
