Marcus Foligno handed a multi-game suspension by DoPS (w/explanation video)
The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced on Thursday that they've suspended Minnesota Wild forward Marcus Foligno two games for kneeing Winnipeg Jets forward Adam Lowry.
The incident occurred during Tuesday's game between Minnesota and Winnipeg in the Manitoba capital. Foligno and Lowry were engaged in their second fight of the game during the third period. Both players were on the ground, trying to be separated by the officials when Foligno knees Lowry's head to the ground.
Both players received their second fighting major of the game, with Foligno receiving an additional two minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct.
The Buffalo (New York) native will miss Minnesota's next two games scheduled for Saturday night against Carolina and Monday against Detroit. He'll be eligible to return to the Wild lineup next Wednesday in a rematch against the Winnipeg Jets.
In 40 games this season, Foligno has 27 points (17 G, 10 A), 87 penalty minutes and is a +21.
