For the past week, there has been speculation regarding the reason for the absence of Golden Knights goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury. The team issued a statement earlier this week, noting that their starting netminder would be taking a leave from the team, indefinitely. It was announced later in the week that his absence was due to a family illness.
Sadly, Fleury's father passed away on Wednesday, November 27th, 2019. Just one day before his son's 35th birthday. The future Hall-of-Famer was home with his father in his time of need, showing once again that some things are bigger than hockey.
Our deepest and most sincere condolences to Marc-Andre and his family during this time of mourning, from everyone on the TradeRumours team.
