In the 8-6 win over the Canucks. Evgeni Malkin set an interesting record with his 5 point performance. He passed Alexander Mogilny with his 8th 5+ point NHL game, giving him first place among Russian-born players.
Mogilny, who was tied for the lead with 7, did so four times with Buffalo and three times with Vancouver. Trailing far behind with 4 are Alexei Zhamnov, Ilya Kovalchuk (all with Atlanta), Alex Ovechkin, Sergei Fedorov, and Alexei Yashin. Alex Kovalev and Pavel Bure have 3 each.
Malkin also passed Jaromir Jagr for 2nd most 5+ point games by a Penguin. Sidney Crosby has 6. They both have a ways to go to reach the leader, Mario Lemiuex, who holds the record with an unreal 51(!) 5+ point games.
