Vegas forward Valentin Zykov was placed on waivers Wednesday morning, just before his 20 game suspension ended.
Zykov was suspended after testing positive for performance enhancing substances, violating the rules set by NHL/NHL Players Association Performance Enhancing Substances Program.
Vegas' comeback win on Wednesday night against the Nashville Predators was his 20th game served and he is eligible to return to the line-up on Friday against the Arizona Coyotes.
As of 9:00 a.m (pacific time) Thursday morning, he was cleared of waivers and unselected by all other NHL teams.
A trade is possibly in the young forwards future, however the value of a player serving a suspension for performance enhancing substances and not being honest with his team about it is heavily questionable.
It's also possible that he returns to the Vegas line-up on Friday, but the most likely scenario for the time being is that Zykov is reassigned to the Golden Knights AHL affiliate, the Chicago Wolves.
Zykov's suspension is up and he is now eligible to be sent to Chicago.
Don't expect this story to be over though. Wouldn't surprise me if he's moved fairly soon. https://t.co/PAGADOk9FR— SinBin.vegas (@SinBinVegas) November 28, 2019
