It looks like any hope Philadelphia's Nolan Patrick had of returning to the ice any time soon has been quashed at the moment. The Flyers have placed the 21-year-old on long-term injured reserve as he continues to deal with a migraine disorder that is keeping him out of the lineup.
As we reported here back on October 24th, the former 2nd overall pick was making slow progress in his attempt to return. However, at that time, Patrick and head coach Alain Vigneault were both happy with apparent improvements in his condition.
"Some days are tough, and it obviously affects your everyday life, too. Hopefully it turns the corner pretty quickly. It's been improving, but it's been a little slower than I hoped for, but I'm getting better," Patrick told the Philadelphia Inquirer last month."
He had been skating on his own back then in a non-contact jersey. However, NBC Sports reports he has not taken to the ice since late October. According to NBC Sports, "the purpose of putting Patrick on LTIR is for salary cap relief. The move is retroactive, which would allow Patrick to return when/if he's ready without the 21-year-old center having to miss 24 calendar days and 10 games.
With his recent move to LTIR, it's really anyone's guess if and when Patrick might be ready to return to Philly's lineup.
