There's no doubt Colorado rookie defenseman Cale Makar has impressed a lot of people after just 22 career NHL games. With seven goals and 25 points, Makar isn't just running away with the Calder Trophy race a quarter of the way through the season, he's actually on pace to have the best rookie season of any defenseman in NHL history. Given that he has another two years after this one on his entry level contract, he's easily one of the most valuable assets in the league at the moment.
If he can continue his current pace, there's no doubt Makar is in for a massive raise when his entry level deal runs out. That's something that has definitely caught the attention of Minnesota head coach Bruce Boudreau.
"I'd like to be his agent. He's going to make a lot of money pretty soon," joked Boudreau.
He's definitely not wrong, and based on how Minnesota is doing this season, Boudreau may just find himself looking for another line of work in the very near future. That said, we're sure he'd have to pry Makar away from his current agent with the Jaws of Life to have any chance of representing him.
