Future lock for a Hall of Fame spot, currently in 3rd place on the NHL list of all-time winning goalies with 489, and the master of the timely and hilarious tweets Roberto Luongo, is coming back to the NHL.
The Florida Panthers have announced Bobby Lu's return as an advisor to GM Dale Tallon. Luongo spent parts of 11 seasons with Florida in two separate stints, accounting for 230 of his wins. His immensely popular Twitter account, @strombone1, used to produce gem after gem, poking fun at fellow NHLers and, quite often, himself. We can only hope that the account becomes more active once again.
"I've had the honor and privilege to work with Roberto during his time playing for the Panthers and am proud to welcome him to our franchise's hockey operations staff," said Tallon. "Roberto always approached every game with an unmatched work ethic and we are confident he will take to this new role with the same passion. A cornerstone player in our franchise's history, we are thrilled that 'Lu' will have a hand in shaping our franchise's future."
Luongo, 40, officially retired from playing in the NHL back in June of 2019.
