The Edmonton Oilers have placed defenseman Adam Larsson on long-term injured reserve. According to the team, Larsson has a fractured right fibula sustained in Wednesday night's game against Vancouver. He played 22:19 in ice time in the Oilers victory. He's expected to be out six to eight weeks.

As a result, the Oilers have recalled defenceman Evan Bouchard from the AHL's Bakersfield Condors and have sent Ethan Bear down to the AHL.

Larsson, 26, serves as an alternate captain for Edmonton. His presence on the ice will certainly be missed by the team. Bouchard, 19, played seven games at the start of last season with the Oilers before being returned to the Ontario Hockey League's London Knights.
