Things appear to be going south fast between the New York Islanders and Josh Ho-Sang. It's being reported that Ho-Sang has skipped his first practice in the AHL since being cut by the New York Islanders, and his head coach has no idea when he's planning to show up. According to reporter Brian Heyman, Bridgeport coach Brent Thompson told him Ho-sang is taking a couple of days "to collect himself," but he has no idea when or if he'll report to the team.
Meanwhile, Arthur Staple, of The Athletic, says Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello has told the media Ho-Sang has requested a trade and they told him not to report to camp while he works on that.
Despite reportedly having a good training camp, Ho-Sang, a former first round pick, was cut from the Islanders. The 23-year-old has obvious talent but has had a hard time breaking through to the NHL. Many believe poor attitude and a lack of consistency are his main barriers. Due to his age, clearing waivers was mandatory in order to be sent to the AHL. There were a few analysts who believed he would be snagged immediately by another team, but that didn't happen.
