The Minnesota Wild will be without one of their more talented forwards when the 2020-21 season gets underway.

Mats Zuccarello, who was signed last offseason to a five-year, $30 million contract, will not be ready for the beginning of the season after undergoing right arm surgery several weeks ago, according to The Athletic's Michael Russo. The winger consulted with Wild team doctors weeks ago who found a torn ligament in his arm. The 33-year-old reportedly played through the injury for the majority of 2019-20. It is also the same arm he broke as a member of the Dallas Stars during the 2018-19 season.

Zuccarello appeared in 65 games with the Wild last season, registering 15 goals and 22 assists. Prior to joining the Wild, he had spent the majority of his career as a New York Ranger, along with a short stint with the Stars as mentioned above. In 576 career NHL games, he has 129 goals and 392 points.
