Fighting in hockey used to be a time-honoured tradition, but it has taken a back seat to skill and speed of late. Still, it is an integral part of the foundation of hockey and, as such, it should continue to be recognized as a key component in the background of our great game - one that has given players of all walks a chance to flourish.

Not all players were born with the God-given talent to excel at the highest level. Some grew up to become the enforcers who protected the highly skilled players by holding those who would attempt to take liberties on a smaller skilled player accountable.

Enter Bob Probert and Tie Domi - two of the most feared and respected warriors of all time. Though yesterday's anniversary of their legendary rematch has come and gone, there is no way we could pass up honouring this violent clash between two of the best enforcers in the last 3 decades. Just watch this spirited tilt from Dec 2, 1992 and tell me that it doesn't give you goosebumps.

As Domi recalls in his tweet, Probert, although an absolute killer on the ice, was a sweetheart behind the scenes. Not exactly a characteristic you'd expect from a guy with 3,300 career PIMs in 935 career NHL games.

Though it has been over a decade since Probert's passing, it's fights like this one that have cemented his legacy as one of the most iconic enforcers of all time. Funny to think that a guy who he threw so many punches at would be remembering him so fondly, but here we are. Ah, hockey. What a beautiful sports.
