Over the last week, the NHL has begun to announce different Award Finalists for individual trophies, and two more were announced today.

One of the most popular trophies, the James Norris Trophy, which is given to the league's top defenceman, will be between John Carlson, Victor Hedman, and Roman Josi. This list is hardly surprising, as all three were outstanding this season. The favorite seems to be Washington Capitals' Carlson, as he had a spectacular season with a career high 75 points in just 69 games. It would be the 30-year-old's first time winning the prestigious award.

The other trophy that had Finalists announced for was the Frank J. Selke Trophy, given to the forward who is deemed most responsible in the defensive side of the game while still putting up good numbers on offence. The three candidates are Patrice Bergeron, Sean Couturier, and Ryan O'Reilly. While O'Reilly won it last season, it is certainly up for grabs this season as all three players listed above had terrific seasons.

These, along with all the other individual awards, will be announced once the Stanley Cup Playoffs have ended. Of course, that will not be for some time as the playoffs are set to begin in early August. Normally, the NHL Awards is a big, crowd filled event, however due to COVID-19 that will not be happening this year.
