Legendary Linesman Dan Schachte Passes Away at 64
Legendary NHL linesman Dan Schachte passed away this morning at the age of 64. Schachte was the first American to work 2000 games, and his career includes appearances at the Olympics, Stanley Cup Finals, and any other major event in the sport. His obituary reads:
Dan Schachte Death, Obituary- Dan Schachte was First American Man to work over 2000 games has sadly passed away. Dan gave up the ghost leaving family and friends heartbroken. The passing of Dan has brought sadness and left the family mourning and agonizing. Our thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of Dan. We learned about this death news through a user on social media post. the statement reads below;
Schachte also officiated the infamous March 26, 1997 game between the Colorado Avalanche and Detroit Red Wings captured above. Schachte is a legend in the NHL's officiating fraternity. No details have been released out of privacy for his loved ones, to whom we express our sympathies.
