Despite no formal retirement announcement, it appears that Kyle Turris' playing career has come to a close.
On Wednesday, the Coquitlam Express, a team in the BCHL, announced that Turris has been hired as a Special Advisor to the General Manager and a Player Development Coach.
"I am really excited to have Kyle joining the team on the management side of things and with the players," commented Tali Campbell, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of the Coquitlam Express. "Anytime you can get your Alumni involved at any level is great but for someone like Kyle to jump on board in this big way, is fantastic and will help us to grow our program and bring the Fred Page Cup back to Coquitlam."
In their press release, the Express mentioned that Turris retired this off-season after thirteen seasons in the National Hockey League. There hasn't been any announcement from Turris himself, but if it is the end of the road for his playing career, he had a solid tenure in the National Hockey League playing for the Coyotes, Senators, Predators and Oilers. In 776 games, Turris tallied 425 points (168 goals, 257 assists) and in 69 career playoff games, he put up 32 points.
"The Express organization played a key role in my personal and professional growth," said Kyle Turris. "I am excited about having the opportunity to work with Tali and Patrick as they help each player develop individually, while pursuing the Fred Page Cup as a team."
