Former NHL enforcer Dan Carcillo, known as "Car Bomb" for his explosive temper during his NHL career, is completely rejecting a response to allegations of abuse he and others leveled at some members of the storied Sutter family. Carcillo, who played for the Los Angeles Kings under Darryl Sutter during the 2013-14 season, has come forward to corroborate some of the allegations against the Sutter brothers, claiming to have witnessed the alleged abusive actions himself.

Brent Sutter recently issued a statement of behalf of the Red Deer Rebels, a team he owns and has coached for. In his statement, Sutter said he doesn't take the accusations lightly and the organization strives to provide a positive experience for any player that spends time within it. He also states he knows in his heart that the vast majority of past and current players would speak positively about their experience with the team.

Carcillo isn't having any of it. In a series of Tweets, he accused Sutter and Hockey Canada of attempting to "gaslight" people instead of owning up to their actions. He also says he's willing to apologize for any of his own actions that may have hurt someone in any way.

"As for the media members who are trying to attack my character and on ice playing style, the way I played and how I treated people off the ice was a direct reflection of the hockey environment I grew up in," said Carcillo. "I was bullied and became a bully. I was abused and am guilty of abuse. If there are stories out there about me, please bring them forth so that I may have the chance to apologize and take ownership. I changed my life around when I was 25 by asking for help, facing the person I had become and making amends with people whom I had wronged."

"To the predators who Hockey Canada is clearly protecting, please know one thing; I will not stop. Never. You taught me that. To never quit, never waver. I will continue to gather the truth & expose these predators for what they are, gaslight abusers."

According to Carcillo, the Western Hockey League (WHL) had knowledge of inappropriate actions taking place and chose to ignore the situation in an attempt to keep the Sutter family name from being tarnished.

The issues he claims the WHL chose to ignore are allegedly related to alcohol abuse under the age of majority, both verbal and physical abuse and also sexual abuse that occurred at a rookie party. He says some young men were even forced to dress in women's clothing as a part of a hazing ritual.
