It was announced yesterday by Golden Knights GM Kelly McCrimmon that the team recalled goal tender Garret Sparks on an emergency basis. It was also noted in the announcement that starting goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury would be taking time away from the team for a 'personal matter.'
It has since been confirmed by the Golden Knights organization that Fleury's absence is due to a family matter, in which a member of his family has fallen ill. It was also confirmed by Vegas that Fleury has returned home to Quebec, Canada.
As of Tuesday evening, the team has stated there is no timeline, at present, for his return, but it is highly unlikely that Fleury will be back for Wednedsay's game against the Predators. Malcolm Subban and Garret Sparks are expected to dress in Nashville.
It is anticipated that head coach Gerard Gallant will meet with the media ahead of Wednesday's game.
