Calgary Flames head coach Bill Peters is finding himself in hot water after a former NHLer shared a story via twitter describing what he experienced while playing for him in the AHL
Akim Aliu, who is of Nigerian descent, put out a series of Tweets Monday night claiming Peters repeatedly directed the N-word at him while they were both a part of the Rockford IceHogs organization about a decade ago.

The allegations came out while the Calgary Flames were facing off against the Pittsburgh Penguins, and Peters was not made available to the media following the game.
Flames' GM, Brad Treliving, had the following comments regarding the situation.
"During tonight's game, I was made aware of a tweet from former player Akim Aliu and obviously we are playing so I haven't had a chance to sit down with Bill or our people internally to talk about this and get to the bottom of it,"
"I would say we take these matters, very, very seriously. And so until such time as we have a chance to speak about it internally, we obviously wanted to address [the media], we're aware of it."
"Like I said, I haven't had a chance to talk to Bill. I will be doing that and until such time we won't have any further comment about it, but we will address it and get back to you people once we have a chance to speak internally."
Aliu made his comments following reports of extreme tactics used by Mike Babcock on some rookies, including Mitch Marner. Babcock had Marner rank his teammates from best to worst in terms of work ethic during Marner's rookie season, which he then shared with others, including Nazem Kadri and Tyler Bozak, who Marner had listed near the bottom.
Meanwhile, TSN's Darren Dreger says the NHL has been in contact with Calgary about the Aliu's allegations, and further discussions are expected today.
