Montreal Canadiens head coach Claude Julien confirms forward Jonathan Drouin went through concussion protocol Friday night after taking a big, open-ice hit from Alex Ovechkin. The hit, which you can see below, too place late in the 2nd period. Drouin was slow to get up and immediately went to the dressing room. however, he would return and play six shifts in the 3rd period, as the Canadiens downed the Washington Capitals 5-2.

Ovechkin commented on the hit following the game, saying "it's hockey, it's not a ballet."

"Like I said, it's a hockey play," Ovechkin added. "He didn't see me. It's a clear hit. Nothing to say."

The hit did appear to be a clean one, and there was no penalty on the play. Despite returning in the game, Julien says the Habs will wait to see how Drouin is feeling before deciding whether he will suit up tonight against the New Jersey Devils.

If there was any doubt over whether the NHL feels the hits was clean or not, there will be no disciplinary hearing for Ovechkin
