Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby will miss the next six weeks after undergoing a surgical procedure to repair a core muscle injury.
Apparently Crosby, 32, had re-aggravated a sports hernia injury, which had been affecting him throughout training camp, earlier in the year.
Rob Rossi of The Athletic has confirmed that Crosby held off on having the procedure done while the Pens were dealing with a host of other significant injuries.
Crosby is currently on a point-per-game pace, recording 17 points in 17 games this season.
