Henrik Samuelsson, a former first round pick of the Arizona Coyotes, has signed a contract with The Manchester Storm of the Elite Ice Hockey League in Britain. Samuelsson, drafted 27th overall in 2012, is the son of two-time Stanley Cup Champion Ulf Samuelsson.
Samuelsson only ever played three games with the Coyotes before being traded to Edmonton in 2017. Those would be the only three NHL games he's played to this date. He split last season between the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL and the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL.
Samuelsson did have some very productive seasons with the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League, putting up 80 and 95 points respectively in 2012-13 and 2013-14. He has struggled to find his scoring touch since, though. The forward is expected to arrive in Manchester this week and make his debut with the Storm on the weekend. His current contract with the team runs through the end of this season.
