The worst has been confirmed for the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday as the team has announced that Mitch Marner will miss a minimum of four weeks with an ankle injury.

Marner fell awkwardly on Saturday night after stepping on the stick of Philadelphia Flyers forward Carsen Twarynski at the start of the second period.

This is a huge blow to the Maple Leafs, specifically when it comes to the special teams, as Marner is a staple on both the Leafs' top power play and top penalty killing units.

With Marner and his $10.893M salary eligible to be placed on LTIR, the Leafs can, however, delay any major roster decisions that would have had to be made in order to activate LW Zach Hyman, who is set to return as soon as this week.
