When Roman Polak went into the boards head-first during the season opener between the Dallas Stars and Boston Bruins, you couldn't help but cringe while watching it. Polak was attempting to check Boston Bruins veteran forward Chris Wagner, but he missed and went into the board awkwardly and at a high rate of speed. Polak had to be stretchered from the ice after laying motionless for quite a while. Since then, Polak hasn't played because of an upper-body injury, but he's now getting close to returning, and spoke to reporters about the incident this week.

"I was choking, it was like an elephant was sitting on my chest," said Polak. "I couldn't breathe. I couldn't move. I couldn't do anything. ... I thought I was going to shit myself if I cough or something."

It sounds like he had the wind knocked out of him, on top of whatever other injuries he suffered during the mishap. If you haven't yet seen it, you can view it below.
