Brendan Perlini, a former first round pick in 2014, has been traded by the Chicago Blackhawks. The return is defenseman Alec Regula, who will remain with the OHL's London Knights

TSN Insider Bob McKenzie stated late last week that Chicago was trying to find a suitable trade partner for Perlini as the forward was looking for more ice time. Perlini played just one game with the Blackhawks this season, spending the rest of his time as a healthy scratch.

Perlini was selected 12th overall by the Arizona Coyotes in 2014. In November of 2018, Perlini and Dylan Strome were traded to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Nick Schmaltz. The 23-year-old, who was born in the U.K., has 72 points in 200 NHL games so far, including 45 goals.

Regula, 19, was drafted in the third round, 67th overall, by Detroit in 2018.
