The Chicago Blackhawks played the Edmonton Oilers Saturday, beating them 5-2, with former Blackhawk Corey Perry speaking harshly about his teammates performances.

After a difficult end to his time with the Blackhawks, Corey Perry was ready to take on his former team alongside his new Oiler teammates. However, 2 goals from Teuvo Teräväinen and goals from Connor Bedard, Seth Jones and Philipp Kurashev, made for a less than memorable night for the team. Last years' finalists are now without a win for the first two games of the season, and a whopping 11 goals conceded.

After the game, Corey Perry spoke critically about his teammates and the game they just played, telling the media,

"We can be a lot better... we're slow with the puck right now... we're not moving up the ice quick enough... We can make all the excuses in the world. Everybody's gotta look themselves in the mirror. It's frustrating."

Last season saw the Oilers, who recently placed Raphael Lavoie on waivers, make it all the way to the finals. Despite going 3-0 down, the team showed resilience, forcing a game 7, but were ultimately unable to complete what would've been one of the most remarkable comebacks in the history of sports. Oilers superstar Connor McDavid even refused to accept the Conn Smythe trophy, symbolic of how devastating the loss was for him and his organization. The team has something big to prove, and losing their first two games with a -9 goal differential is not the start the team wants to redeem last season's devastating loss.

Corey Perry, too, has a point to prove. After his first triumph with the Anaheim Ducks in 2007, he has lost four Stanley Cup finals in five years, with the Stars, Canadiens, Lightning and most recently, the Edmonton Oilers. He will be looking to change his luck, and end his losing streak.

Will Perry and the Edmonton Oilers shape up? Or are we looking to another year of disappointment for the two?
