Hockey Night in Canada host facing criticism from Toronto Journalist

One of the hosts from the Canadian show "Hockey Night in Canada" is receiving backlash from a controversial journalist from the Toronto Sun.

Steve Simmons, who has received criticism from other journalists for a litany of reasons, including his false stories about longtime NHL player Phil Kessel as well as controversial comments about Akim Aliu and Wayne Simmonds, recently called out Ron Maclean, the former NHL referee and current host of Hockey Night in Canada.

This comes after MacLean participated in a segment with Rogers CEO Tony Staffieri and Rogers executive chairman Edward Rodgers. This segment was to talk about Rogers' decision to buy out Bell Media's stake in Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment, which fans had issues with MacLean hosting.

MacLean has also faced criticism in the past when his former co-host of Coaches Corner, Don Cherry, was fired and MacLean had failed to give any sort of public support. This was only amplified by MacLean celebrating Cherry's birthday with him and Cherry's son calling him out for celebrating in a fake manor.
