As part of Phase 2 of the NHL's Return to Play plan, players and team staff are returning, or getting ready to return, t0 practice facilities. That means there are a lot of tests being done at the moment for COVID-19 and some of them are coming back positive. This includes a staff member with the Arizona Coyotes.

"The Arizona Coyotes were advised [Saturday] that a staff member has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus," said the team in a statement. "The staff member, who is in the Valley, is asymptomatic and feeling well, and is in isolation at his home. Individuals who had close contact with the staff member have been notified."

All other Coyotes staff and players involved in the Phase 2 testing protocol have tested negative for COVID-19. The Coyotes will continue to follow all of the NHL-mandated protocols for testing and risk mitigation."

"The health and safety of our players, staff, fans, and community is our top priority. The Coyotes will have no further comment at this time."

It had also recently been announced that a member of the Boston Bruins had tested positive for COVID-19. However, two subsequent tests came back negative.
