Ever since the NHL announced its Return-to-play Plan, one of the biggest questions yet to be answered has been the one of which two cities will be named hub cities. According to reviewjournal.com, Las Vegas will be announced as one of two cities on June 22nd.

According to the source, the league has asked MGM Resorts for a nongambling, nonsmoking hotel, and COVID-19 testing possibilities has also been one of the requirements. The teams would likely be quarantined in their Strip resorts, where they will live and eat inbetween being shuttled to and from the T-Mobile Arena, which is aslo co-owned by MGM Resorts.

NHL officials have declined commenting on the reports: “We have nothing new to announce with respect to return to play at this time.” They said, and an MGM Resorts representative referred questions to the league office. However, it seems all but officially announced that Vegas will be one of the cities.

The second hub city is yet to be decided, largely depending on whether the Canadian authorities decide to enforce the 14-day quarantine for players entering the country. Ideally, the NHL would like to have a Canadian city running alongside Vegas, but that can not be finalized until a government decision has been made.
