The Washington Capitals' mentors trip really tugged at the heartstrings when the fathers in attendance decided to call T.J. Oshie's father from the game against Columbus Monday night. Tim Oshie could not make the trip as he is battling Alzheimer's, which he was first diagnosed with in 2012. The video shows the group of mentors reaching out to Oshie and starting a "let's go Caps" chant , which Tim was more than happy to join in with. Take a look:

ESPN detailed Tim and T.J. Oshie's story in a 2014 article when T.J. was still playing with the St. Louis Blues. It outlines his diagnosis, to having sporadic episodes of memory loss, to an "episode in North Dakota when Tim Oshie became disoriented at a college hockey game he was attending with his daughter, Aleah, Oshie's stepsister. Tim ended up at a diner, his phone dead because of the cold, and was unable to get home until early the next morning."

An article from USA Today, which can be viewed here shows Tim was well enough to make the mentors trip, mostly attended by fathers, last season. It is sad to hear that his health has deteriorated enough in that span that he's no longer able to be in attendance for the annual event. Tim was able to be in there when his son won the Stanley Cup with the Capitals in 2018.
