The NHL's Department of Player Safety has made it's ruling on Joel Farabee's late hit in Winnipeg's Mathieu Perreault. The Philadelphia Flyer will sit for the next three games as a result of his actions.

Perreault was forced to leave Sunday's game and did not return after taking a high hit from Farabee in the second period. After Perreault got rid of the puck in the corner, he was rocked by Farabee, who received a five-minute major and a game misconduct.

On Monday, Jets head coach Paul Maurice said the team would treat Perreault's injury like a concussion.

In it's official ruling, which you can see below, DoPS makes it clear that Farabee went beyond finishing his hit, saying he lined up Perreault long after he had moved the puck up the boards. It adds the hit was well outside the window of where a check may be legally finished.
