Chicago Blackhawks assistant coach Marc Crawford has been on the hot seat the last few days, primarily stemming from allegations made by former NHL player Sean Avery, in which he states Crawford kicked him during their time together with the Los Angeles Kings.
It's said by Avery that the incident occurred in the 2006-2007 season, during Crawford's time as the Kings head coach. As it was told by Avery, the Kings were playing the Nashville Predators when Avery took a "too many men on the ice" penalty. Avery told The New York Post "He [Crawford] didn't have me serve it, we got scored on, and he let me have it."
The former L.A. King then explained that Crawford approached him at the end of the bench and allegedly delivered a swift kick to his behind, which left a mark.
This isn't the first allegation of abuse circling around Crawford. The Hawks assistant coach has also been accused by defenseman Brent Sopel of kicking and choking him, in addition to grabbing him by the back of the jersey and pulling him back. These allegations have resurfaced from a Spittin' Chiclets podcast dating back over a year ago, following the statement from Avery.
Another member of Crawford's former L.A. Kings line up, Patrick O'Sullivan has also spoken out, tweeting last week that he "went through awful things with my first NHL coach, who knew my abuse background as a child."
With multiple incidents of coaches abusing players surfacing as of late, including that of Peters (Calgary) and Babcock (Toronto), this is a situation the Chicago Blackhawks simply cannot take lightly.
The Blackhawks organization announced Monday that they are "conducting a thorough review" regarding the recent allegations against Crawford.

It seems as though this uneasiness between some players and coaches has been happening quietly for some time, and now more people involved in the various situations are addressing the media with statements and allegations.
As of Monday, the Blackhawks organization has stated they will have no further comment until completion of the review.
