The story of a Canadian youth hockey coach who alleged that he was victimized by a blatantly racist text from a parent of one of his students (which we covered previously) is starting to unravel. Talha Javaid claimed he received a text from a man named "Chase" who was worried that his son "Riley" was being coached in hockey by a "Muslim guy" and suggested that Javaid resign. The incident and the coach's tweet went viral, garnering retweets and support from NHL players such as Grant Fuhr and Evander Kane.
Javaid claimed that the incident occurred as he was driving to rent ice and time for a youth hockey clinic in East Lansing, Michigan. Yahoo Sports, who was the first to run the story, told WLIX News 10, a station in East Lansing, that the arena in question was Suburban Ice. The arena, in turn, claims they did an investigation and found no records of ever dealing with Mr. Javaid and even went as far as to say that they checked their database and found no combination of a student named Riley with a father named Chase.
Both the station and Suburban Ice have attempted to reach Mr. Javaid as early as October 15th, but have received no answer. Javaid, who also made a documented claim of a racist note being left on his car back in 2017, has made all his social media private.
