The Los Angeles Kings have suffered a bit of a regression through recent years. They were Stanley Cup winners in 2012 and again in 2014. Now they find themselves among the bottom teams in the league and are due for a bit of a rebuild.
There is typically not much of a pre-show at an NHL game, save maybe the few occurrences when a special event comes around. The Staples Center went big to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the arena. How big? Well, they used 642 lasers for the pre-game show between the Kings and the Sabres, which set a new world record, according to Guiness Book of World Records Officer, Andrew Glass, who was in attendance to verify the feat.
How much of an improvement was this record over the previous one? Well, the previous record was 342 lasers used, so the Kings may have gone a little overboard... well... about about 299 lasers overboard, anyway.
