NHL Legend Teemu Selanne Questions the Mikko Rantanen Trade and Why it Happened
The trade involving Mikko Rantanen that sent him from the Colorado Avalanche to the Carolina Hurricanes is being questioned by Hockey Hall-of-Famer Teemu Selanne
has revealed his true thoughts on his trade from the Colorado Avalanche to the Carolina Hurricanes, an NHL legend from his home country of Finland wonders if it was a mistake for him and the Avs.
Teemu Selanne, one of just two players from Finland in the Hockey Hall-of-fame (Jari Kurri is the other), responded to an article on X regarding the trade, and said Rantanen priced himself out of a prime position with team filled with great players.

Selanne is best known for his time with the Anaheim Ducks, but played a season for the Colorado Avalanche in 2003-04. He said fans are the biggest losers in this trade because Rantanen had chemistry with Nathan MacKinnon that can be hard to come by.
Rantanen has insisted he was willing to take less than he would have gotten on the market as a free agent to stay in Colorado.
However, Elliotte Friedman leaked the Avalanche's max offer and it was a lucrative one.
Besides being a Hall-of-Famer and a Stanley Cup winner, Selanne was named to the 100 Greatest NHL Players of All Time by the league in 2017.
