Boston Bruins officially sign Jeremy Swayman following controversial negotiation process

The Boston Bruins officially signed goaltender Jeremy Swayman to a contract following controversial negotiation process.

It all started last year, when Swayman and the Bruins went throught a salary arbitration hearing. Back then, the organization had done their homework, and listed all of their reasons to give Swayman a smaller salary.

The goalie opened up about what first came between him and the team on Amazon Prime's new documentary "Faceoff: inside the NHL".

Here's what he said:

Then, in the past week, after an offseason full of rumors, the Bruins President Cam Neely made a massive declaration last week during a press conference that nearly drove Jeremy Swayman out of the organization.

He stated that the goalie had "64 million good reasons to play", meaning that the organization offered him a 64-million contract.

However, the goalie's camp came out and revealed they never heard about that offer, and said they would need time to think about their next move.

Fortunately for Bruins fans, it looks like he made a decision.

Then, he revealed that Swayman and the Bruins agreed to an eight-year, 8.25M AAV.
