New Minnesota Wild Troy Grosenick goaltender tragically suffers season-ending injury

The Minnesota Wild picked up Troy Grosenick ahead of the 2024/25 season for veteran depth, but unfortunately, he's now gone done with a brutal injury.

After a disappointing campaign in 2023/24, the Minnesota Wild have plenty of pressure on their shoulders to turn things around in a big way this season. While they've not made many big name additions, the team improved in many ways, including the addition of goaltender Troy Grosenick for some much needed depth behind Marc-Andre Fleury and Filip Gustavsson.

Unfortunately, Grosenick's season is now over before it could officially begin, with the 35-year old reportedly suffering a torn ACL that will see him miss the entirety of the 2024/25 campaign.

Despite making his AHL debut back in the 2013/14 season, Grosenick has played in just four NHL games thus far, with the last appearance coming back in 2020/21 with the Los Angeles Kings. In those games, he's been fantastic, tallying a .933 save percentage and a 2.27 GAA, but now, his latest attempt at pushing for an NHL spot has come and gone in tragic fashion.

The team believe he will be ready for the 2025/26 campaign, and while that will likely be for the Iowa Wild of the AHL, he will continue to be solid depth with Fleury likely to retire following this season.

Last year, Grosenick posted a solid 2.56 GAA and a .907 save percentage with the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL, and with his veteran presence he'll be a solid addition for the Wild when he returns next summer, so for now we hope he can get back to 100% and get one last shot at the NHL.
