The controversial NHLer Tony DeAngelo finally broke the silence on the rumors sending him to the KHL.
Following a rough few years, DeAngelo, 28, had the worst season of his career in 2023-24. He took part in only 31 games with the Carolina Hurricanes and struggled to have a positive impact on his team. He tallied three goals and eight assists in the regular season, as well as two assists in nine playoff games.
A recent report suggested that DeAngelo could be joining the KHL. DeAngelo entered free agency on July 1st, and he hasn't signed a contract yet, fueling the rumors of him moving to the KHL.

DeAngelo himself debunked those rumors. Puck Empire posted a picture of a conversation with DeAngelo, in which he states that he's looking for a contract in the NHL for the 2024-25 season.
Check it out:
"Tony DeAngelo tells @PuckEmpire that there is zero truth to these reports.
The defenseman is looking for an NHL deal for the 2024-25 season."

We should know soon enough if a team decides to take a chance on DeAngelo. It wouldn't be surprising to see an organization offer him a professional tryout contract ahead of the training camp.
