David Pastrnak stepped up for the Boston Bruins earlier this week, with a beautiful game 7 OT winner against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The superstar is a key piece of the Bruins team, and listened clearly to head coach Jim Montgomery's comments telling him he had to be better.
In the midst of a dominant game 1 win against the Florida Panthers, Pastrnak looked great, but a collision with a referee nearly injured him.

The ref ran into Pastrnak along the boards and Pasta was NOT happy 😭
This collision left Pastrnak in visible pain on the bench:
Pastrnak hurting on the bench...Looked like he had an awkward collision with referee Chris Rooney. Gustav Forsling, so good tonight, just left a welt on the back of Matthew Tkachuk right before with a big shot
Following the collision, knowing he was in the wrong, referee Chris Rooney went to apologize to Pastrnak:
-
Ultimately Pastrnak would leave the game with a point, and more importantly a win as the Boston Bruins attempt to clinch a spot in the Conference Finals.
If this had injured Pastrnak more severely, it could have ruined the Bruins' chances at a shot at Lord Stanley. Referees definitely need to be more careful.
