The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Moncton Wildcast have parted way with Head Coach John Torchetti, and the team is staying pretty tight-lipped on the exact reason why.
In a brief statement on its website, the team says "As this is a personnel-related matter, the organization will have no further comment."
Torchetti, from Boston, Massachusetts, was hired by Moncton in January of 2019. He had also been serving as director of hockey operations for the team. He had been away from the club for stretches over the past several weeks for what the club had called personal reasons. Torchetti's firing certainly wouldn't have anything to do with the team's performance as the Wildcats are 24-9-0 and are currently third overall in the entire league.
For now, Moncton has named Assistant Coach Darryl Boyce as interim Head Coach. The search for a new head coach will begin immediately. Ritchie Thibeau, Assistant Director of Hockey Operations will oversee hockey operations.
