As noted on Saturday Headlines, the Toronto Maple Leafs' decision as to whether or not to release Rasmus Sandin to Team Sweden for the 2020 World Juniors has just become more complicated. With Tyson Barrie leaving Saturday's game against the Oilers after taking a puck off the ankle, Sandin's services may be required by the Leafs.
The severity of Barrie's injury will determine a lot here. Leafs' management may want to keep Sandin in their system and available to be called up if there is a chance Barrie will miss time between now and early January.
