After Taylor Hall was a healthy scratch for the New Jersey Devils Friday night for "precautionary reasons", speculation on which team would be acquiring his services started to run rampant on social media. The most common thought seemed to be that Hall would be heading to Colorado. The team has the assets required to make the trade, the cap room needed to re-sign him, and a roster that can certainly help ensure he plays like the guy that won the Hart Trophy as league MVP a couple of seasons ago.

However, according to Insider John Shannon, there are two teams in the front-running, and neither is Colorado. According to him, the two clubs at the top of the list are St. Louis and Arizona.

Should the defending Cup Champ Blues land Taylor Hall, it would be a huge move that would further cement the possibility of a repeat championship. Arizona is a team on the rise, and Hall could be a great addition to increase chances of a deep playoff run.

Either way, Shannon says he's expecting the trade to be finalized before December 19th. That's when the Holiday roster freeze is implemented. It lasts until December 27th.
