Sad news for Oskar Lindblom and the Philadelphia Flyers as the team has announced forward Lindblom will miss the remainder of the season after being diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma. It is a type of cancer that forms in bone or soft tissue.

"He will undergo further testing and evaluation next week and begin treatment immediately thereafter," said Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher. "He is not expected to return to play for the remainder of the season. The Flyers will do everything possible to support Oskar and assist him in securing the best care available. Out of respect for Oskar and his family, the team will have no further comment at this time and asks that Oskar be afforded a period of privacy so that he may focus his efforts on his treatment and a return to full health."

Lindblom, 23, was in the midst of setting some career highs this season after recording 11 goals and seven assists in 30 games. He was the Flyers second leading scorer. He had 33 points last season, his first full one on the NHL.

Everyone here would like to wish Lindblom the absolute best in his treatment and recovery.
