Global News is reporting that Bryan Little of the Winnipeg Jets suffered from "brain bleeding" after he was struck in the head by a slap shot from teammate Nikolaj Ehlers Tuesday night. Little remains in hospital under the care of doctors in the neurological unit at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.
According to the report, the bleeding in his brain was discovered after he received 25 to 30 stitches to close a laceration near his ear. After dealing with the bleed and injuries, Little will need to be put through concussion protocol before he has any chance of returning to the ice.
Brain bleeding is quite serious, and can even be fatal in certain cases. According to Harvard Health Publishing, it is considered a form of stroke.
Unfortunately for Little, this is not his first head injury this year. He missed the first nine games of the season after taking a hit from Luke Kunin of the Minnesota Wild in a preseason game and suffering a concussion. The latest incident with the errant slap shot can be viewed below.
