Vancouver Canucks hit by season-ticket backlash over controversial hiring rumor
Frank Seravalli reported Wednesday night that the Vancouver Canucks are catching heavy backlash from season-ticket holders over a possible Pierre Dorion hire.
The complaints aren't filtering in quietly. Seravalli says Vancouver has gotten "a flood" of them, with some calling it the last straw if ownership pulls the trigger.
Translation: the business community in Vancouver has noticed. And they're not shy about telling the Canucks how they feel about it.

For a team coming off a 25-49-8 season, a -100 goal differential, and a 32nd-place finish overall, the optics matter more than ever.
Adam Foote just wrapped his first year as head coach. The roster needs reinforcements, the cap sheet needs work, and the front office is the part fans can actually pressure before next October.
Seravalli noted that Dorion may still be part of the mix, but on the lower end. That's the language teams use when a name is fading, not rising.
Why Vancouver's business community is pumping the brakes
Season-ticket holders rarely make this kind of noise publicly. When they do, it usually means renewals are already shaky. Vancouver finished 9-27-5 at home this season. That's the number ownership has to stare at.
Empty seats next fall would be a problem. Empty corporate suites would be a bigger one. The pushback Seravalli described sounds like both groups talking at once.
Dorion's previous tenure in Ottawa ended with a league suspension tied to a contract registration error. That history isn't a minor footnote in a market this engaged.
The Canucks went 4-6-0 in their final 10 games and lost their season finale 6-1 in Edmonton. The fan base is already stretched thin.
Hiring a name fans don't trust on top of that? Hard sell. Owners read rooms, and this room is loud right now.
The bigger question is who Vancouver brings in instead, and how fast. Every week without a permanent answer in the front office is a week where the noise gets louder, not quieter.
Foote can only do so much from behind the bench. The next hire shapes the roster he inherits.
