According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, Zack Kassian, who is set to become a free agent this summer, and the Edmonton Oilers will be sitting down in the near future to discuss a contract extension for the 28-year old winger.
"He's happy there, the Oilers are happy with him and I believe that the Oilers and Kassian are going to sit down in the near future to see if they can get an extension done," Friedman said Saturday on the Headlines segment on Hockey Night in Canada.
Kassian has been one of the best Oilers forwards this season, sitting fourth on the team in points (22), and leading the team in hits (93). He is currently on pace for 27 goals and should smash his previous career highs of 15G and 29P.
His physical style of play, and knack for scoring a timely goal won't be easy for Edmonton to replace, so Ken Holland and the Oilers' management team will look to get Kassian re-signed as soon as possible.
